Arrival & accommodation

Arrival by car / caravan

Here you can see the new parking lot for cars and caravans that will be built in 2023.

The planned carport has been completed in 2024. A caravan underneath can be rented from mid 2025.

Directions

From the A11, take exit 16 onto the N211 in the direction of Vila Meã/Marco C.veses.

The exit to Rua do Valdonedo is located directly on the N108 in Piares.

As soon as you have turned into the driveway, there is a parking lot on the left after approx. 100m, where you can park your car or camper/caravan.

 

If you continue on foot from the parking lot along the driveway, the entrance is on your left.

There are also a few parking spaces for small cars here.
There is a turning area for small cars at the end of the driveway.

Arrival by train

From Porto, you have the option of traveling to Marco de Canaveses by train.
The train journey takes about an hour.
Marco de Canaveses is the next largest town near Penha Longa and Piares (approx. 20 minutes away by car).

Arrival by bus

You can get the bus connection from Marco de Canaveses to Piares, for example, at www.transdev.pt. Piares is located in Penha Longa in the "Tamega e Sousa" area.

Arrival by plane

The nearest airport is "Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro" in Porto.
If we know your exact time of arrival, we can organize a pick-up shuttle.

Accommodation

Accommodation options
In addition to the possibility of staying overnight in your caravan/mobile home, there is also the option of camping with us.
The extensive grounds invite you to pitch a tent.
It may also be possible to use airbnb rooms about 30 minutes from Valdonedo.
If you are not a fan of camping, there is also the option of staying at the Douro Hotel, which is a little more expensive and has a very nice atmosphere.

Sanitary facilitiesIn 2023/24, we converted an old distillery into a sustainable sanitary building.
Here you have an dry toilet, washbasin and shower. The hot water has also been installed in the meantime 2024.
Additional washing facilities, seating and relax area are planned near the tents. These will be implemented gradually over the next few years.

Washing
In Portugal, you can wash and dry your laundry at almost every supermarket.
We have a washing machine since the end of 2024. We still have to dry our clothes in the supermarket as we don't have a dryer.

Internet
We don't have a comprehensive wi-fi network because the wi-fi radiation has an impact on the surrounding flora and fauna and we want to do the exact opposite - to work with nature and not against it.
The houses that are currently being renovated will provide sufficient LAN connections (via cable) in the future.
It is not forbidden to use W-Lan, as we also have to make do in our current situation until the houses are finished.
Just come and talk to us and we will find a solution.

Kitchen
The kitchen has now moved into the former distillery that we rebuilt. The toilets and shower are also located here.
We can also provide camping stoves, kettles and other small items on request. Please contact us for this.

Waste
Dispose of your waste in the bins provided and keep an eye out for overfilled bins and please let us know.
Organic waste goes into our bokashi buckets or directly into the compost.
We try to avoid waste and develop recycling systems.

Other
You can always talk to us and we will find a solution for everything together.
