Valdonedo is a self-sufficient farm and event venue in the wonderful green northern Portugal.
We, Johannes Roosen-Runge & Claudia Rehrmann, warmly welcome you to a unique place in the green north of Portugal. Here, we have been building a sustainable project and an event location focused on self-sufficiency, farming, and living with nature since 2023.
For a long time, we searched for a place like this in Germany, but nothing ever felt truly right. When we were in Portugal in 2022, we saw a better opportunity - larger properties, more freedom, and real possibilities to farm and create an event location.
Valdonedo is not only a place for rural living and farming; it is also developing into a space for events. In the future, we would like to offer external organizers the opportunity to host seminars, workshops, small-scale arts, and cultural activities that bring new energy and inspiration to the countryside.

In addition to farming, we also offer coaching services. Johannes Roosen-Runge provides Systematic Flow Coaching, a project design coaching service (more information at jrr-coaching.com) and Claudia Rehrmann offers health coaching, meditation and movement training (more information at qibration.de), both online and in person.
Our desire is to create a diverse place. It’s about healthy food, finding a lifestyle that is more in tune with nature, improving health and well-being, and serving as a model for a more sustainable way of living in harmony with the natural world. We hope this can at least inspire others.
But that’s not all. With Valdonedo, we want to create a place where people can meet, exchange ideas, and connect. The beautiful former manor house is therefore intended to become a venue for events, seminars, and gatherings in the future.
We are former musicians who later chose a different path, becoming more deeply involved in health, farming, spirituality and sustainable living. This journey has led us to where we are now - after several years in Portugal - bringing everything together in one project.
We are deeply impressed by the intelligence, foresight, and precision with which people once built these houses and cultivated the land. We are gradually learning more about the history of this place and plan to publish it step by step on the Quinta Blog. Much of what we are trying to rediscover in permaculture today was already lived here in the past.
Our wish is to create a place “by people – for people.” A place full of life, exchange, learning, and meaningful encounters. We are grateful to have been so warmly welcomed in Portugal and to have already formed close friendships with local people.
